Basketball Recap: Matthew Campbell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Myrtle Beach over Conway

Myrtle Beach lost against Conway back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Myrtle Beach Seahawks lost 55-31 to the Conway Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Seahawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Tigers are ranked 13th).

Myrtle Beach's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Campbell, who posted seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of DaMarcus Richardson, who put up four points.

Trevon Johnson was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 9 on his way to 14 points and three steals for Conway. Jordan Jenkins was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Myrtle Beach and nudges their season record down to 8-7. As for Conway, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season.

Myrtle Beach will be playing in front of their home fans against Socastee at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Conway, they are taking a road trip to face off against St. James at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Conway is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games.
