Basketball Recap: Lily Hatcher Key Part of Team Effort in Saints Win

Sylva Bay Academy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Newton County Academy, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. The Saints blew past the Generals 54-28 on Tuesday. The Saints not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since January 17th (when they won 56-15).

Sylva Bay Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily Hatcher, who posted 24 points and eight boards. Those 24 points gave Hatcher a new career-high. Kynlee Bennett was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Sylva Bay Academy has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 55 points this season. As for Newton County Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Sylva Bay Academy will face off against Kemper Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Newton County Academy will be paying especially close attention to the Saints' contest: after the Saints face off against the Rams, they'll take on Newton County Academy again at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
