Softball Recap: Cypress Creek Extends Winning Streak to Eight

While Cypress Creek didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by a 15-5 margin over the Wekiva Mustangs on Monday. The Bears' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Amanda Cintron made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Cypress Creek got a massive performance out of Sofia Lopez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Lopez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophia Gonzales, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one run.

Cypress Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wekiva only posted a batting average of .167.

Cypress Creek's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Wekiva, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cypress Creek will welcome Olympia at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wekiva, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Freedom at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
