Softball Game Preview: Jordan Falcons vs. Northern Durham Knights

The Jordan Falcons will venture away from home to take on the Northern Durham Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Jordan will head out to face Northern Durham after giving up their first home loss of the season on Friday. The Falcons fell just short of Riverside-Durham by a score of 5-3. The contest marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Kylie Specht was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Cornwell, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Northern Durham had just enough and edged out Chapel Hill 11-10 on Friday.

Sydney Woodside spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and six unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Northern Durham let Lainey Stutts and Roxy Nelson run wild. Stutts went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Nelson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Stutts a new career-high. Brynley Standifer was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Jordan's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 14-3. As for Northern Durham, their victory bumped their record up to 5-13.

Jordan took their win against Northern Durham in their previous meeting last Wednesday by a conclusive 15-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
