Baseball Recap: Idaho City Victorious

Idaho City's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against the Garden Valley Wolverines by a score of 10-5. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won eight in a row.

Stace Martiny made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Trey Martiny was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Gavin Goodman was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Idaho City's record is now 5-14. As for Garden Valley, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
