Baseball Recap: Morehead Gets the Win

Morehead's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the North Forsyth Vikings a 15-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won six in a row.

Reece Dunovant made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zachary Grogan, who fired off three triples, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ethan Horton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Morehead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Morehead's victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for North Forsyth, they dropped their record down to 3-12 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Morehead beat the Vikings by a score of 16-1 later that day.
