Kaplan hadn't done well against Iota recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Kaplan Pirates sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Iota Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since March 11, 2024.

Kaplan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. Iota moved to 6-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kaplan will challenge Covenant Christian Academy at 11:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Covenant Christian Academy comes in on nine and Kaplan on three. As for Iota, they will square off against St. Edmund at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Iota is facing St. Edmund at the right time seeing as St. Edmund is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
