Football Recap: Georgetown Piles Up the Points Against Chaparral

Georgetown had won six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they bumped up to 4-1 to make it seven. They claimed a resounding 56-7 victory over the Chaparral Bobcats. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 27 points or more this season.

Georgetown was led to victory by Kaleb McDougle and Jett Walker. McDougle threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, while Walker rushed for 153 yards on only 12 carries. Walker's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 105 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Warren, who picked up 96 receiving yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Georgetown was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 243 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chaparral only rushed for 146.

Georgetown's defense stepped up as well, laying out BRYSON COLEMAN three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Tennison Dean, Tyler Leininger, and Quinton Rock, who each picked up one sack apiece.

As for Chaparral, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 578th, while Georgetown is ranked 132nd).

When it comes to explaining why Chaparral lost, don't look at DAVIAN ARTHUR. Despite the final result, he rushed for 74 yards and one score.

Georgetown didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 35-33 win against Rouse on the 10th. As for Chaparral, they have also already played their next matchup, a 49-6 defeat against Leander on the 10th.
