Softball Recap: Badger Gets the Win

Badger took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Waterford, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Badgers won by a run and slipped past the Wolverines 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Badgers have posted since April 17th.

Miah Butinas made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 18 batters over 11 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lilly Butinas, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Golz, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

Badger's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Waterford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Badger will square off against Elkhorn at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Waterford, they will face off against Beaver Dam at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday.
