Basketball Recap: A.C. Reynolds Piles Up the Points Against Erwin

A.C. Reynolds won the last time they faced Erwin and things went their way on Wednesday too. The A.C. Reynolds Rockets claimed a resounding 68-26 victory over the Erwin Warriors. Given the Rockets' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Warriors are ranked 432nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

A.C. Reynolds was led to victory by Declan Brown and Grant Clayton. Brown went 11 for 16 on his way to 25 points and seven boards, while Clayton dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. With that strong performance, Clayton is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. Another player making a difference was Jaaron Frye, who posted seven points.

A.C. Reynolds smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Erwin's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Titley, who scored seven points. Jackson Davis was another key player, putting up four points and five steals.

A.C. Reynolds' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-7. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33 points. As for Erwin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

When A.C. Reynolds and Erwin next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. A.C. Reynolds will face off against T.C. Roberson and their four-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Erwin will try to stop McDowell's ten-game winning streak when the meet at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
