Recap: Overton Mustangs vs. Carlisle Indians
The Overton Mustangs put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 38-14 margin over Carlisle. The result was nothing new for Overton, who have now won six matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Overton was led to victory by Bryce Still and Jayden Edwards. Still threw for 334 yards and four touchdowns, while Edwards picked up 243 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Edwards was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 68 yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Carlisle to a paltry 158 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Overton's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Kash Fletcer and his two sacks.
Although Carlisle took the loss, they still got scores from Clayton Hart and Roberto Camacho.
Overton's win was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.7 points per game. As for Carlisle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.
Overton will head out on the road to face off against Tenaha at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tenaha will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
