Recap: Lowell Red Devils vs. La Porte Slicers

The Lowell Red Devils lost against the La Porte Slicers last Wednesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Lowell opened the new year with a less-than-successful 64-51 defeat to La Porte. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lowell in their matchups with La Porte: they've now lost six in a row.

Lowell's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ezra Elenbaum, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Jacob Viehman was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead La Porte to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rylan Kieszkowski, who scored 17 points along with three blocks. That's the first time this season that Kieszkowski posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Nic Spence, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Lowell's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for La Porte, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lowell will take on Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Highland is ranked 324th, while Lowell is ranked 334th). As for La Porte, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lake Central at 7:00 p.m. Lake Central will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
