Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Shaylee Barrett and Maya Layton Lead Lafayette Jefferson to Victory

Tri-County typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Lafayette Jefferson proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Tri-County Cavaliers by a score of 52-39.

Leading Lafayette Jefferson to victory were Maya Layton and Shaylee Barrett. Layton went 5 for 11 en route to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists, while Barrett went 7 of 10 on her way to 15 points along with eight boards and four steals. Layton has been hot, having also posted three or more steals the last five times she's played.

Tri-County's loss came despite strong showings from Sara Zarse and Hannah Arvin. Zarse posted 13 points and five steals, while Arvin put up 12 points and five boards.

Lafayette Jefferson is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.5 points. As for Tri-County, with the defeat, they broke their 16-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-2.
