Basketball Recap: Horizon Science Academy Comes Up Short

Horizon Science Academy lost against Westside Christian Academy back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The matchup between the Horizon Science Academy Dragons and the Westside Christian Academy Eagles didn't end well, with the Horizon Science Academy Dragons falling 69-52. The Dragons were down 53-29 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Westside Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Calvin Cottenden, who almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine boards. Cottenden is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Trent Douglass was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.

Horizon Science Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Westside Christian Academy, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Horizon Science Academy will challenge Lawrence Upper at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Westside Christian Academy has already played their next contest (against Lake Ridge Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
