            Baseball Preview: Phoenix Firebirds vs. Mexico Tigers        
        
		
        
        
            The Phoenix Firebirds will square off against the Mexico Tigers at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Monday, Phoenix made easy work of Cortland  and carried off  an  11-2 victory.
Meanwhile, Mexico got the win against Carthage  on Monday by a conclusive  12-4. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Comets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive  win against them.
 Brayden Mack made a splash no matter where he played. He  struck out nine batters over  seven innings while giving up  four earned runs off   nine  hits (and only one walk). Mack was even better at the plate,  firing off two  home runs, three  runs,  and three  RBI while going 2-for-3. Those  three  runs gave  him a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  Carter Robert and  Anthony Farrell did most of the damage at the plate:  Robert  scored two  runs while going 3-for-3, while  Farrell  went 1-for-4 with one  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI. Those  three  hits gave  Robert a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Carson Race, who  scored a  run while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 Mexico  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 11  hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  got at least eight  hits every time they've taken the field this season.
 Phoenix was able to grind out a solid  victory over Mexico in their previous matchup  back in April of 2024, winning  5-1. Will the Firebirds repeat their success,  or do  the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
