The Trojans came out on top in a nail-biter against the War Eagles on Friday, sneaking past 31-28. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
John Milledge Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Asa Wall, who rushed for 76 yards and one TD, and also picked up 58 receiving yards and one touchdown. Wall didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made 14 total tackles. Lewis Cheney was another key signal caller, throwing for 166 yards and three touchdowns.
John Milledge Academy didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Brentwood to a completion percentage of just 40%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: Bryce McDonel, Jamel Cooper, and Malek Dorsey, who each logged one passes deflected. Meanwhile, Stratford Academy was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Brookstone 41-14. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won three contests by 27 points or more so far this season.
John Milledge Academy better keep an eye on Tyler Stephens. He was instrumental in Stratford Academy's win, rushing for 234 yards and five scores while picking up 11.1 yards per carry. Those five rushing touchdowns gave Stephens a new career-high. Stratford Academy also got a significant boost from Aaron Jefferson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.
