Football Recap: Manistee Starts Season with Victory on the Road + How To Watch

Manistee had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They claimed a resounding 42-15 win over the Chippewa Hills Warriors. Given the Mariners' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Warriors are ranked 367th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dayvion Neal-Berry threw for 79 yards and three touchdowns. Ean Guenthardt was his top target, picking up 36 receiving yards and a pair of scores. On the ground, Landin Sowa rushed for 120 yards and one TD on only 11 carries.

Manistee will be playing in front of their home fans against Fremont at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. The game will give the Mariners their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Chippewa Hills, they will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Morley Stanwood at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
