Softball Game Preview: Port Aransas Marlins vs. Woodsboro Eagles

Port Aransas and Woodsboro are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Port Aransas Marlins are taking a road trip to square off against the Woodsboro Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Wednesday, Port Aransas got the win against Pettus by a conclusive 16-5. The win continues a trend for the Marlins in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, Woodsboro waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Bobcats by a score of 5-2.

Woodsboro pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Port Aransas, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

Port Aransas skirted past Woodsboro 2-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Port Aransas since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
