Volleyball Recap: Concordia Takes a Loss

Concordia came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Crest Ridge Cougars, falling 3-0. The Fighting Orioles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Concordia took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-21, 25-23.

Despite the defeat, Concordia saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Riley Gordillo had 13 digs. Karli Kirchoff also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Concordia now has a losing record of 6-7-1. As for Crest Ridge, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Coming up, Concordia will face off against Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Crest Ridge has already played their next matchup (against Knob Noster), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
