Basketball Game Preview: Westfield Blue Devils vs. East Side Red Raiders

The Westfield Blue Devils will challenge the East Side Red Raiders on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Westfield can't be too worried about heading out to take on East Side: they just beat Hillsborough at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Westfield walked away with a 52-42 win over Hillsborough on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Side). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat American History 87-42. The Red Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.

The win was the third in a row for East Side, bringing their record for this year to 13-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points over those games. As for Westfield, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.

Things could have been worse for Westfield, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-44 loss to East Side in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Westfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
