The Skyline Coyotes will head out to face off against the Desert Vista Thunder at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Skyline will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
Skyline had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Camelback on Monday. Skyline's pitchers stepped up to hand Camelback a 14-0 shutout. The Coyotes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 13 runs or more this season.
Jake Goins looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Ryan Vitale was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Hunter Daniels was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Skyline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Camelback only posted an OBP of .133.
Meanwhile, Desert Vista got the win against Cibola on Thursday by a conclusive 8-1. The Thunder haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Desert Vista also got a great performance from Kason Webb as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sammy Skinner, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Luke Hutton, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Skyline's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Desert Vista, their record now sits at 5-1.
Skyline suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Desert Vista in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can Skyline avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
