League recap: Sanderson scores huge upset over Heritage

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Sanderson, who defeated 47th ranked Heritage, 20-14. Zairee Parker ran for 73 yards and caught 3 passes for 31 yards during the win.

Adding to the longest winning streak in 4A Conference 11 this week, Wakefield beat Enloe 34-21. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Wolverines.

Wakefield's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Evan Brabrand threw for 168 and 2 touchdowns and Omari Williams had 74 yards receiving. On the ground Kelton Whitehead chipped in 130 yards. Marius Cooper helped Wakefield's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 40 yards.

Williams was the best wideout in the league this week as Rod Sink's team topped the Eagles. Williams tallied 5 receptions for 74 yards. Cooper helped Wakefield's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 40 yards.

The Wolverines' Brabrand and Jake Butler led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Brabrand has thrown for 1,500 yards this season, while Butler has 30 catches for 326 yards. Wake Forest's Bryce Love leads the league in rushing yards with 814.

The top two teams in 4A Conference 11 will face off this week when first place Wakefield takes on second place Wake Forest. Wakefield beat Enloe last week, while the Cougars topped Millbrook.

Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when the Wolverines' Butler goes up against Wake Forest's Chris Leonard.

Next week's game between Wakefield and Reggie Lucas' team will feature a good passing match up as Brabrand will test his arm against Leonard's defensive ability.

One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Wolverines and the Cougars face off next week.

There should be lots of points scored when Wakefield and Wake Forest face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Wolverines comes in having scored 217 this season, while the Cougars have scored 233. Wakefield scored 34 points last week as it defeated Mike Massey's team.

The Spartans scaled the state rankings by moving to 86 from 142 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Sanderson was able to move up by topping Heritage 20-14.
