League recap: Wallace throws longest pass in league this season for Marion County

Sean Wallace and Dorryl Swanigan provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Meek. The connection went for 54 yards, the longest such play in 1A Region 5 this season.

Pickens County extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Aliceville, 35-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.

Marion County's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Wallace threw for 123 and two touchdowns and Swanigan had 72 yards receiving. On the ground Justin Sanderson chipped in 80 yards. Collin Roberts helped Marion County's passing attack out by catching one ball for 39 yards.

The Red Raiders' Wallace and DeShawn Riebeshel have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wallace has thrown for 529 yards this season, while Riebeshel has eight catches for 208 yards. Parrish's Jermichael Harris leads the league in rushing yards with 502.

Two of the top units in 1A Region 5 will face off this week when Marion County takes on South Lamar. Russell Funk's team's offense has scored 270 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Stallions have allowed only 212 on the year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Lynn takes on the Red Raiders. The Bears are currently in third, while Marion County is in second.

The Red Raiders took down the Tigers 64-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Wallace ran for 11 yards in the win.
