Softball Recap: Van Vleck Comes Up Short

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Van Vleck and East Bernard had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Leopards came up short against the Brahmas on Monday, falling 6-0. The Leopards have struggled against the Brahmas recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Lakyn Matchett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

Van Vleck's loss dropped their record down to 14-5-2. As for East Bernard, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 18-7 record this season.
