Softball Preview: Lake Norman Wildcats vs. South Caldwell Spartans

The Lake Norman Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the South Caldwell Spartans at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lake Norman is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

After soaring to 13 runs the game before, Lake Norman was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hickory Ridge. Vivian Billiard put in work no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Meanwhile, South Caldwell put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 23-2 margin over Ashe County. Considering South Caldwell has won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Lake Norman's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for South Caldwell, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
