Baseball Recap: Mattawan Starts Season with Victory at Home

Mattawan gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Edwardsburg Eddies a 6-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Eddies: they've now won three in a row.

Kellan Wilder looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Brody Houseman was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Troy Scarff, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Edwardsburg is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Mattawan will have a chance to go back-to-back against Edwardsburg: the pair will be back at it again later today.
