Basketball Game Preview: Marshall Academy Griffons vs. Battle Creek Academy Tigers

The Marshall Academy Griffons will head out on the road to take on the Battle Creek Academy Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Marshall Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Jackson Preparatory & Early College, but they still walked away with a 59-54 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Griffons.

Marshall Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Olu'Shola Kemp out in front who posted seven points along with 15 rebounds and five blocks. What's more, Kemp also racked up three steals, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Delray White was another key player, going 6 for 15 on his way to 15 points.

Meanwhile, Battle Creek Academy came into Tuesday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 38-26 win over Factoryville Christian on Tuesday. The Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Battle Creek Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Marshall Academy, their record now sits at 2-0.

Marshall Academy skirted past Battle Creek Academy 52-49 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Does Marshall Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Battle Creek Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
