Baseball Recap: Marin Catholic Extends Winning Streak to Three

Marin Catholic took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Novato, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hornets on Monday, sneaking past 2-0. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Hornets last Friday, they had to take a 9-2 defeat.

Novato's batters probably weren't too happy with Cooper Mitchell, who pitched a no hitter (he gave up two walks). Mitchell also allowed no hits, which is notable because Marin Catholic is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 10-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Marin Catholic saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wade Untermann, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

The win was the third in a row for Marin Catholic, bringing their record up to 13-11. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Novato, they moved to 16-9 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Coming up, Marin Catholic will head out to challenge San Marin at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.9, the Mustangs 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Novato does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
