Recap: Olton Mustangs vs. Tahoka Bulldogs
There's no place like home for The Olton Mustangs, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past Tahoka with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 62-48. The win was just what Olton needed coming off of a 56-21 defeat in their prior matchup.
Olton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Ruiz led the charge by rushing for 77 yards and three touchdowns. Raymond Ramirez was another key contributor, throwing for 277 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Despite the loss, Tahoka still got an impressive performance from Brycyn Mann, who picked up 186 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Mann was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 63 yards. Another player making a difference was Zane Garvin, who rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown.
Olton's victory was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.2 points per game. As for Tahoka, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
