Basketball Recap: Holyoke Falls Despite Big Games from Kinley Sporhase and Ellie Kleve

Holyoke was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They came up short against the Akron Rams, falling 33-13. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-33 back in January.

Holyoke's loss came despite strong showings from Ellie Kleve and Kinley Sporhase. Kleve posted five points and ten boards, while Sporhase earned two points. Maggie Kleve also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Akron found their leader in freshman Molly O'Neil, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 steals. Those 12 steals set a new season-high mark for O'Neil. Another player making a difference was AnnMarie Stahn, who had six points.

Holyoke's defeat dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Akron, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.

Holyoke didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-39 win against Limon on the 1st. As for Akron, they have also already played their next contest, a 56-31 victory against Haxtun on the 1st.
