Softball Recap: Godley Snags 15th Victory in Last 16 Games

Godley had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Hillsboro on Thursday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 11-4 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won 19 contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Karlee Clark spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Godley got a big performance out of Halle Gross, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Jaydin Riale also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Godley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Godley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Hillsboro, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10.

Coming up, Godley will host Conrad at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.38 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. Hillsboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
