Freeport hadn't done well against Harlem recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Pretzels had just enough and edged out the Huskies 2-1. This was payback for the Pretzels, who suffered a 2-0 loss the last time these two teams met.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Freeport who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 19-25, 25-20.
Zaida Dose paced Freeport's offense, picking up five kills. Dose got some help from Ava Almasy and her eight assists. Mackenzee Matz controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Freeport has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
