Baseball Game Preview: Seton Catholic Central Saints vs. Chenango Forks Blue Devils

For the second straight game, Seton Catholic Central will face off against Chenango Forks. The Saints will host the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Seton Catholic Central took a 13-run defeat the last time they faced off against Chenango Forks, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Saints had just enough and edged out the Blue Devils 3-2 on Monday.

Brian Dempsey and Max Yaeger were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Dempsey struck out eight batters over 8.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits. Meanwhile, Yaeger tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Dempsey went 2-for-6 with one run and one double, while Yaeger got on base in four of his six plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that Yaeger has snagged this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Chenango Forks and nudges their season record down to 4-8. As for Seton Catholic Central, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-8.
