Baseball Recap: Lake Shore Takes a Loss

Lake Shore extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They lost 12-1 to the Maryvale Flyers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Flyers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 back in April.

Lake Shore saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Lamoreaux, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Samuel Smaldino also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

As for Maryvale, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-2. Considering they have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

On Maryvale's side, Isaiah Hill was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Hill was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

In other batting news, Dominic Daly was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Jacob Kuciel was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Lake Shore will be playing in front of their home fans against Cheektowaga at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.33 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Maryvale, they will venture away from home to take on Pioneer at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
