With a playoff win on the line, Harlingen South rose to the challenge on Thursday. They came out on top against the Flour Bluff Hornets by a score of 12-7. Winning may never get old, but the Hawks sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

The team relied heavily on Jaylin Mata, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Caitlin Gonzalez, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Harlingen South's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Flour Bluff, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Hornets beat Harlingen South by a score of 8-7 on Friday.
