Basketball Game Preview: Abbeville Panthers vs. Dixie Hornets

The Abbeville Panthers will face off against the Dixie Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Abbeville is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Belton-Honea Path on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Abbeville was dealt a 40-11 loss at the hands of Belton-Honea Path. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Abbeville got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Ar'Naisyah Gray and Te'Unna Elmore, who each put up three points. Gray also led the team in rebounds with ten.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Dixie, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in December of 2024. They breezed by GREEN Upstate to the tune of 46-13 on Friday. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 21 points or more this season.

Abbeville better focus on containing Kerrie O'Shields and Jaylia Turner as the pair were huge in Dixie's win. O'Shields posted 11 points, while Turner earned ten points. Another player making a difference was Hannah Bivins, who had six points.

Abbeville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Dixie, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Abbeville might still be hurting after the 35-13 loss they got from Dixie in their previous meeting back in December of 2023.
