Basketball Recap: Onaga Buffaloes vs. Blue Valley Rams

The Onaga Buffaloes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight defeat. They were dealt a 80-48 defeat at the hands of Blue Valley. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Onaga in their matchups with the Rams: they've now lost five in a row.

Several Buffaloes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Konnor Nider, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Nider hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jackson Kolterman, who scored ten points along with seven steals and five assists.

Even though they lost, Onaga were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Onaga dropped their record down to 1-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Blue Valley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-7.

Onaga will head out on the road to take on the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Doniphan West is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Blue Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers on Tuesday. Washington County is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
