Softball Game Preview: Early Longhorns vs. Bowie Jackrabbits

The Early Longhorns will challenge the Bowie Jackrabbits at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Early is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 17 games.

On Friday, Early made easy work of Dublin and carried off a 13-1 victory. Considering the Longhorns have won 20 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Leslee Beard looked comfortable as she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Jamie Vassar was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Sydney Greaves was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Bowie's offense. They came up short against Holliday on Friday, falling 8-0. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 15, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Bowie's loss dropped their record down to 16-13. As for Early, their win bumped their record up to 25-4.
