Basketball Recap: Rocky River Gets the Win

If Garinger wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Rocky River, they should've done a better job of containing Jayden Ross. The Rocky River Ravens blew past the Garinger Wildcats 86-58 on Friday thanks in part to Ross, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Despite the loss, Garinger saw an underclassman step up: freshman Aaron Lawler went 7 for 13 on his way to 32 points along with five assists and three steals. That was a full 55.2% of Garinger's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jameer Nealy, who put up eight points.

Rocky River's record now sits at 7-9. As for Garinger, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Rocky River Ravens duke it out with the West Mecklenburg Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Garinger, they will challenge Butler at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Terrance Badio and Lawler.
