Volleyball Recap: Kate Vogelzang Key Part of Team Effort in Trojans Win

Illiana Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Timothy Christian proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 3-1. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Timothy Christian walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the fourth set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-13.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Timothy Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kate Vogelzang, who had 12 digs and four aces. What's more, Vogelzang posted three assists, the most she's had over her last five contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Alex, who had six digs, four aces, and one block.

They weren't the only good servers: Timothy Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Illiana Christian only served four.

Timothy Christian's victory bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Illiana Christian, their loss ended a ten-match streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 20-5.

Timothy Christian and Illiana Christian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in their respective state rankings. The Trojans (ranked 23rd) will meet Chicago Hope Academy (ranked 591st) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Illiana Christian will take on Wheeler at 7:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (59 vs. 212).
