Baseball Recap: Glenwood Comes Up Short

Glenwood scored first but ultimately less than Belleville West in their contest on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Maroons by a score of 4-3. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Maroons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2018.

Michael Lucas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season.

Glenwood has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-7 record this season. As for Belleville West, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glenwood will challenge Normal University at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pioneers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Titans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Belleville West, they will take on East St. Louis at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Flyers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.75 runs per game on average), something the Maroons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
