Softball Recap: Mingus Comes Up Short

Mingus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Coconino Panthers, falling 11-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Marauders of the 15-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Mingus saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lisa Hammit, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Mingus' loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Coconino, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mingus will face off against Flagstaff at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Coconino, they will challenge Poston Butte at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Broncos will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
