Preview: Goshen RedHawks vs. Northridge Raiders
Goshen has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Northridge Raiders at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Goshen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
Last Friday, Goshen came up short against Wawasee and fell 29-20.
Despite the loss, Goshen had strong showings from Kyra Hill, who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds, and Rosie Herrera, who scored 6 points along with 3 steals. Hill scored a full 45% of Goshen's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Northridge came tearing into Saturday's match with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Concord, posting a 64-22 victory on the road. Northridge might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four games by 32 points or more this season.
Northridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Morgan Cross out in front who scored 14 points along with 4 steals. The game was Cross' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ella Mohamed, who scored 12 points along with 6 steals and 5 assists.
Goshen's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Northridge, their win bumped their record up to 11-1.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Goshen have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northridge struggles in that department as they've been even better at 28.4 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
