Preview: Douglas Tigers vs. McQueen Lancers

Douglas and McQueen are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2016, but not for long. The Douglas Tigers will be playing at home against the McQueen Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Douglas is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Nevada (they are ranked 11th, while McQueen is ranked 62nd).
In what's become a running theme this season, Douglas gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Carson 63-29 at home. Douglas pushed the score to 55-26 by the end of the third, a deficit Carson had little chance of recovering from.
Mckenzie Main was nothing short of spectacular: she scored 19 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Logan Karwoski was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, McQueen's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They fell 48-39 to Reno.
Despite their loss, McQueen saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Caitlin Hilson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Hilson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Camilla Carlson, who scored 11 points.
Douglas has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. As for McQueen, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost 11 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Douglas have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like McQueen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Douglas' way against McQueen when the teams last played back in January as Douglas made off with a 51-30 win. Does Douglas have another victory up their sleeve, or will McQueen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
