Basketball Recap: Oroville Drops Highest Score of Season Against CORE Butte

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oroville). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the CORE Butte Lynx 83-53. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 22 points or more this season.

Oroville was led to victory by Rashawn Bland and Marlon Smith. Bland posted 25 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, while Smith went 7 of 15 en route to 21 points in addition to six steals and five assists. Bland is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Campbell, who had ten points and four steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Oroville was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Oroville's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for CORE Butte, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Oroville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against University Prep at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. University Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for CORE Butte, they will head out to square off against Los Molinos at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
