Basketball Recap: Tarpon Springs Falls Despite Big Games from Madisyn Trent and Tula Diamantaras

Tarpon Springs lost against East Lake back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Tarpon Springs Spongers lost 51-25 to the East Lake Eagles. The Spongers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.

Tarpon Springs' loss came despite strong showings from Tula Diamantaras and Madisyn Trent. Diamantaras posted eight points and 12 boards, while Trent had nine points. The dominant performance gave Trent a new career-high in points.

Amanda Egipciaco was the offensive standout of the game as she made all 6 shots she took to post 12 points. Another player making a difference was Kierra Pitts, who earned 11 points.

Tarpon Springs' loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-12. As for East Lake, their victory ended a 13-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-15.

Tarpon Springs has already played their next contest, a 63-22 defeat against Palm Harbor University on the 31st. East Lake has also already played their next matchup (against Anclote), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
