Softball Recap: Monday's Win Is Newsome's 15th in Last 17 Outings

While Newsome put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for East Bay. The Wolves put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 9-0 win. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Haleigh Galvan's shutout, as she gave up just four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Newsome let Arriana N Williams and Sarai Nicholas run wild. Williams got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Nicholas went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Nicholas has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Bayler Grande, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Newsome always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Bay only posted an OBP of .259.

Newsome is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for East Bay, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-15.

Looking ahead, Newsome will head out to square off against Robinson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolves are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for East Bay, they will challenge Alonso at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
