Basketball Recap: Troup Comes Up Short

Troup has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 36-35 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Rusk Raiders. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tigers came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 439th, while the Raiders are ranked 937th).

Leading West Rusk to victory were Kimora Pryor and Keke Murphy. Pryor almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, while Murphy almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards. Murphy has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.

Troup's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 18-5. As for West Rusk, their record now sits at 6-9.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Tatum the next time they take the court. West Rusk will head out to face Tatum at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Troup will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
