The Prescott Badgers are taking a road trip to take on the Deer Valley Skyhawks at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Prescott has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Deer Valley will arrive with four straight wins.
Things were looking good for Prescott after they put the first run on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Mohave by a score of 5-4.

Gracie Pereira put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Pereira wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mariah Smolnikar, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Deer Valley got the win against Agua Fria on Friday by a conclusive 17-1. The Skyhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by seven runs or more this season.
Like Prescott, Deer Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Adyson Ordway. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Ordway was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Leila Hermosillo was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Taylor Passalacqua, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Deer Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .824. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in 12 consecutive contests.
Prescott's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Deer Valley, their record now sits at 21-5-1.
Prescott skirted past Deer Valley 3-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Badgers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
