Baseball Recap: North Arlington Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but North Arlington ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the New Milford Knights. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 5-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Rohan Patel spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit. He is becoming a predictor of North Arlington's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, North Arlington's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sam Rosamilia, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

North Arlington is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for New Milford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Arlington will head out to square off against Cresskill at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for New Milford, they will face off against Garfield at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights are facing the Boilermakers at the right time seeing as the Boilermakers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
